On Sunday Morning in Giessen

 

It was a Wallace Stevens morning,
a post-apocalyptic morning
where only bowls of fruit
and corrugated iron
possessed the necessary density
for life.

And yet.
Those leaves.
Those yellow, yellow leaves.
